Tried and Tested

Tried and Tested: Caravan Bankside, Southwark

Breakfast at Caravan is quite possibly the best way to wake up. Ever. Particularly on a grey Monday morning in London.

We settled down in the cool but cosy restaurant, and started with flat whites...

... Before making our way through the slow roast pork belly, kimchi pancake, gochujang ketchup and sunny duck egg (delicious, interesting flavours and a hearty meal in itself) and the Jalapeño cornbread, frijoles negros, fried egg and avocado (spicy, zingy and fresh). Polished off with rosewater poached quince and sesame labneh (when in Rome...).

We almost had the place to ourselves at 8.15am, and were finished in half an hour. Very easy (almost too easy) to pop in for a quick bite before work... Definitely check it out if you work nearby.

It's also open for lunch and dinner (and cocktails!). I'm already planning my next visit.

Outstanding breakfasts and divine coffee (worth getting out of bed for). And service with a smile.

Thank you Caravan for making a grey Monday glorious!
