Soft Launch London visited the new Pomona's restaurant in Notting Hill and had some rather good food (particularly the mains and dessert - they were standout!). So we thought we'd tell you about it.
The menu had some interesting combinations (think bone marrow and vodka, and chocolate with olive oil and truffle salt) which sounded odd but tasted amazing. If you're a foodie and feeling a bit adventurous, see if you can nab a table.
The hanger steak (from The Ginger Pig no less) was cooked beautifully, served with soft chicory and drizzled with a tasty green salsa. Another recommended dish was the pork belly (crispy on the outside, melt-in-the-mouth meat) with smoked polenta, and a side of fresh Japanese radish in a yogurt concoction.
The mains were the star attraction for us - the starters were delightful, but a main and a side was more than enough food for one. The vegetarian options were mainly souped-up salads and tasty sounding sandwiches - so, for the vegetarians amongst you, it's more of a lunch (rather than dinner) spot, based on the soft launch menu.
The chocolate dessert was rich and decadent, and was finished far too quickly. There were lots of "ooohs" and "aaahs" as the taste of the sea salt and olive oil changed the flavour of the chocolate in a single mouthful. Scrumptious.
The décor was classy and bright, using Hockney-esque colours to jazz up the atmosphere, and for a moment you could forget the minus Celsius outside and (almost) pretend it was summer...
